If you have a pre-existing skin condition, medical condition, or are using any medications, you may still be eligible — but should adjust your expectations based on your situation. Every person is unique and heals differently.
Can I bring a guest?
A guest can come if they stay in the waiting area and do not interfere with the procedure. If the procedure is interrupted, we reserve the right to ask the guest to return at the end of the appointment. As the client, it's your responsibility to ensure your guest does not interfere.
Pre-existing skin conditions
Eczema, Psoriasis, Dermatitis, Chronic Acne, Rosacea & others
Active skin conditions in the treatment area may disqualify you. Please notify your artist if you have any of these.
Large pores
If your skin has larger pores in the brow region, healed results can look blurred and powdery — Ombré Powder Brows are usually a better option.
Sunburn / recent tanning
If you've had excess sun exposure, wait until your skin returns to its normal color and is fully healed before booking.
Previous permanent makeup
If you've had permanent makeup before, saline or laser removal may be recommended if the old design or color is still prominent, or if previous work was done too deep and left scarring. Always disclose previous work — not all cases can be accepted. Please submit a clear photo of each brow or lip before booking.
Scars
Sub-dermal scar tissue can affect retention and healed results.
Sensitive skin
For most people microblading is no problem. For those with hypersensitivity, skin may react with increased swelling, bleeding and less retention. Microshading or ombré may be better options.
Deep wrinkles
Microblading is not advised — strokes may not lay properly and can look uneven. Ombré is better for mature skin.
Moles, skin tags, bumps, piercings, raised skin
These areas may have uneven, poor retention. We do not tattoo over moles or piercings.
Oily skin
Oily skin may push out pigment quicker, need more frequent touch-ups, and heal powdery or blurry. Nano hairstrokes or combo brows are recommended over microblading.
Microneedling, Accutane, Retin-A & Retinol
Acne medications within the last year alter skin condition and prevent good healing — waiting a year is advised. Keep microneedling more than 8 weeks before and after. Discontinue Retinol and Vitamin A one month prior.
Pre-existing medical conditions
Please consult your doctor and artist before booking if any of the following apply. A physician's letter of consent may be required.
- Pregnant or nursing
- Tendency toward keloid scars
- Hair transplant in the service area
- Bleeding disorders: hemophilia
- Autoimmune disorders: Lupus, frontal fibrosing alopecia
- Diabetes
- Heart condition
- Taking blood thinners
- IUD — can promote increased bleeding; please inform us prior to booking
Other considerations
- Botox — wait at least 4 weeks after Botox so muscles are relaxed and settled.
- Filler — get filler first and let it settle before lip blushing; filler can stretch skin and create patches.
- Vacations — all services are tattoos and a mild injury that needs to heal. Allow at least two weeks before any hot/sun/swim vacation.
How long does it last?
This is a tattoo that fades over time to varying degrees. A touch-up or maintenance appointment is recommended every 1–3 years to maintain shape and color. After several maintenance appointments, removal may be recommended for a fresh start.
Why is the 8-week refining session necessary?
The initial appointment sets the foundation; the refining session (8–10 weeks later) adjusts shape, color and saturation. It lets us see how your body heals and reinforce any areas that didn't retain — it's always easier to add pigment than to remove it.
Does it hurt?
Discomfort varies; most clients report mild discomfort. Topical anesthetic usually isn't applied during the first pass as it can distort the final shape and affect retention, but it's an option. It's applied during the second pass once the design is in place — most clients are comfortable and sometimes doze off.
Results vary by person
There are no guarantees on how skin reacts to treatment and pigments. Sun exposure, lifestyle, skin type, pre/aftercare, age, diet, stress, products, medications, previous tattoos and skin tone all determine how the area heals.
- Oily skin — pushes pigment out faster; may heal powdery/blurry. Nano or combo brows recommended.
- Mature skin — fine, delicate and thin; heals more powdery. Powder or combo brows recommended.
- Darker skin — less contrast and detail; may heal powdery or solid.
Fresh tattoo vs. healed tattoo
Hairstrokes appear crisp, dark and exaggerated at first. As they heal, lines soften, lighten and expand slightly, and color settles a bit cooler. Ombré Powder and Lip Blush look very dark at first, then lighten to a soft powder or natural tint.
How is the design determined?
We use a logical ratio based on your face — length, angle, symmetry — to design a look you'll love. The initial appointment focuses on locking in shape and design; future appointments focus on layering saturation.
Retention
Most clients retain pigment well; a few may need a third appointment for areas that didn't retain. Treatment and pigment are chosen by skin type, age and other factors to reduce that risk. Expect fading after 1–2 years — sun exposure speeds it up.
Color maintenance & touch-ups
Maintenance (touch-up) appointments are for those already tattooed; timing depends on how your body processes pigment. With strict aftercare, sessions are recommended every 1–3 years. Annual color boosts bring strokes, saturation and color back to life — the more boosts you get, the longer you can go between full touch-ups.
