Post Care Instructions: After Procedure To-Dos
Proper aftercare makes a real difference in your healed results. With modern nano techniques, recovery is simpler than older methods — but your treated area is still an open wound and should be treated with care.
What you'll need
- Aquaphor (no Vaseline!)
- Distilled or filtered water
- Gentle clear soap (e.g. Dial, Cetaphil)
- Disposable cleansing cloths (optional)
Days 1–7
Brows
You can leave the Saniderm patch on until the next morning (brows only). Do not touch or pick at the tattooed site, and always wash your hands before cleansing. Keep it dry as long as possible when showering.
Lips
Do not eat spicy food for 48 hours and drink through a straw for the next 7–10 days. Moisturize lightly with Aquaphor or scent-free lip balm. Do not touch or pick as the skin peels. Wash hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap and warm water before touching.
Lashline enhancement
Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor to the tattooed area. Keep it clean and do not soak the area for 4 weeks to avoid lifting pigment.
How to cleanse
Gently wash the area each morning and night with filtered water and gentle antibacterial soap (Dial or Cetaphil). Using a very light touch, cleanse with your fingertips, then pat dry with a clean disposable cloth. Do not use any products containing acids (glycolic, lactic, AHA) or exfoliants.
How to moisturize
Apply a rice-grain amount of Aquaphor with a cotton swab and lightly spread it across the treated area. Don't over-apply — too much suffocates the skin and delays healing. It should be barely noticeable, like never putting ointment on a wet or damp tattoo.
Important reminders
- Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.
- Do not pick scabs! After 7–10 days of cleansing and moisturizing, let scabbing or dry skin fall away naturally. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.
- No facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.
- Light exercise only for 1 week — avoid heavy sweating.
- Avoid topical makeup, including sunscreen, on the area for 4 weeks.
- Avoid direct sun or tanning for 4 weeks; wear a hat outdoors.
- Avoid steaming and long hot showers for the first 10 days — keep the tattoo dry, rinse last, then pat dry.
- No submerging your face for the first 10 days — no swimming, lakes or hot tubs.
